Mars One Colonization Plan offers out-of-this-world escape and plenty of red planet red flags | SiliconBeat

It’s Monday morning and I’m just back from vacation and so, yeah, a trip to Mars looks pretty good rather than, uh, crazy.

I’d do anything to get out of here and so, reports CNN, would about 100,000 others who have signed up to move to the red planet for the rest of their lives (which CNN points out might not be very long if they actually make the trip).

Still, the number of applicants is growing like crazy, according to IT World.

This Mars settlement could be a long way off. I know; you’re shocked. But this isn’t a hoax. An outfit called Mars One, run by Bas Lansdorp, says they’ll be landing settlers on Mars by 2022, which rules me out.

I figure I’ll be back in the swing of things by then.
