As it always tends to do, pop radio has been getting a bit stale lately—stale and unfriendly towards those it previously loved. While everything that Maroon 5 or Katy Perry release immediately goes Top 40 and tends to stay there for some time, the landscape of pop has been losing many of its biggest names. Artists like Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez have had a hard time reclaiming the thrones they once sat upon, and even Lady Gaga, once the promise of a genre critics laughed at, can’t chart a hit like she used to.
